Highly complex new construction during ongoing operations
The construction of a cardiac catheterization laboratory places the highest demands on planning and execution. From precise room air technology and integrated radiation protection to complex medical technology integration – every detail must be perfectly coordinated. At the Langen site of the Asklepios Clinics, chore bauen GmbH took on the complete new construction of cardiac catheterization laboratory III in room air class 2 —a project that required both technical excellence and the highest level of coordination expertise.

Scope of construction work for the new cardiac catheterization laboratory III
The construction of the new cardiac catheterization laboratory III initially required extensive demolition work. All interior walls, including the suspended ceiling in the planned area, were completely demolished to make room for the state-of-the-art medical infrastructure. The new interior walls consist of a combination of solid masonry and specialized drywall that meets the specific requirements of a cardiac catheterization laboratory. The existing screed was completely renewed, while all old installations were professionally removed.
chore as general contractor for planning and execution
As the general contractor, chore not only coordinated all construction work, but was also responsible for the complete planning and implementation of all technical trades. This included technical building equipment, electrical installations, and the integration of highly sensitive medical technology. By centrally controlling all processes, chore ensured that construction ran smoothly and that the project was completed on schedule.
Electrical installation for medical precision
The electrical infrastructure of a cardiac catheterization laboratory must guarantee maximum supply reliability. chore installed redundant power supply systems, uninterruptible emergency power supply (UPS), and specialized medical device connections. This expertise in medical electrical engineering ensures that a secure power supply is guaranteed at all times during life-saving procedures.

Plumbing and heating technology
Modern cardiac catheterization laboratories require precisely climate-controlled rooms with constant temperature and humidity levels. chore implemented a highly efficient ventilation system in accordance with DIN 1946-4, which guarantees particle-free air in room air class 2. The integrated HEPA filter systems and directed air flow minimize the risk of infection and create optimal conditions for interventional cardiology procedures.

Control technology for smart building technology
The complex technical infrastructure is centrally controlled and monitored using modern building management technology. chore integrated intelligent control systems coordinate all technical systems, manage energy efficiently, and respond automatically in the event of malfunctions. This predictive maintenance minimizes downtime and ensures continuous operation.

Radiation protection according to the highest standards
Cardiac catheterization labs use X-rays for image-guided interventions. chore installed comprehensive radiation protection measures, including lead cladding on walls and doors, dosimeter monitoring systems, and warning systems. This expertise in medical radiation protection protects staff from cumulative radiation exposure and meets all legal requirements.

Cardiac catheterization laboratory with increased technical requirements
01
The creation of a cardiac catheterization laboratory poses increased challenges in almost every area. From structural calculations for heavy medical equipment to the integration of complex imaging systems and absolutely precise ventilation technology —every aspect requires specialized expertise.
chore has many years of experience in the construction of specialized medical rooms and coordinated all specialist planners and contractors in an optimal manner.
Tight schedule during ongoing clinic operations
One of the biggest challenges was adhering to the tight schedule while the clinic remained in operation. chore developed a sophisticated phasing concept that allowed construction work to be carried out outside peak hours and minimized disruption to clinic operations through flexible working hours. The 24/7 availability of our project managers ensured rapid responses to unforeseen challenges.
In addition , chore developed special safety concepts for dust control, noise minimization, and area separation so as not to compromise patient care. Once all construction work was complete, comprehensive functional testing of all technical systems was carried out.
chore documented compliance with all DIN standards, carried out air purity measurements, and handed over the cardiac catheterization laboratory III to Asklepios Clinics in operational condition.

Integration of highly complex medical technology into existing hospital structures
The successful integration of highly complex medical technology requires intensive coordination with device manufacturers. chore worked closely with SIEMENS Healthineers to ensure the seamless integration of imaging systems, catheter lab technology, and monitoring systems. This interdisciplinary collaboration guaranteed that all technical interfaces were perfectly coordinated.

Cardiac catheterization medicine with tangible added value for the Asklepios Clinic in Langen
The new cardiac catheterization laboratory III significantly expands the capacity of the Asklepios Clinic in Langen and sustainably strengthens cardiological care in the region. More patients now benefit from modern interventional cardiological procedures, shorter waiting times, and optimized treatment processes.
The new cardiac catheterization laboratory meets all current medical and technical standards and is also consistently prepared for future developments. Well-thought-out room planning, ergonomically designed workstations, and state-of-the-art technical equipment create optimal conditions for the medical team. The result is a high-performance infrastructure that combines quality, efficiency, and patient safety at the highest level.
The construction of our new cardiac catheterization laboratory III has enabled us to significantly expand our cardiology capacities. Despite ongoing hospital operations, chore implemented the project in a highly professional manner, on schedule, and with a deep understanding of the technical aspects involved.
